At the start of the month, nurse practitioner students from the University of Louisville School of Nursing provided free check-ups and wellness screenings. Parents could pick up their kids in the Child Development Center and then stop by to see the nurses. This partnership makes it easy for families to stay healthy!
Then, members of our Four Seasons Senior Program held a yard sale in the Neighborhood House gymnasium. The seniors had eleven tables worth of items with proceeds going back into supporting the Four Seasons program.
With Fall quickly approaching, Neighborhood House youth and families had a night full of festivities at the annual Fall Festival. Thank you to Norton Healthcare, LG&E/ KU, DMLO, WellCare of Kentucky, and our volunteers for their support of this year’s event. Additionally at the Fall Festival, Neighborhood House recognized the years of service Mr. Norman has given–and will continue to give serving children and families in the Louisville’s west end. Declared “Norman Martin Day” by the City of Louisville, Deputy Mayor Barbara Sexton Smith joined in on the festivities to present the declaration to Mr. Norman!
Every year, Neighborhood House partners with PBS to create educational content to go on the PBS website for parents and educators. This year, Child Development Center teacher Ms. Whitney was selected to be a “Teacher Feature” on the PBS website. That project was recently published and can be found here.
During the week leading up to Halloween, members of the Youth Development Program conjured up some scary good fun with their annual Haunted Hallway. Prepared by Youth Development Program staff and members, the project proved to be a fright for both children and adults! Watch a video highlighting the event on our Facebook page here.
