Smiles are in bloom, and members have been busy enjoying the outdoors, Derby season, and new experiences.

Members in the Youth Development Program went on their first Spring Break trip to the ultimate Spring Break destination - the beach! Flights and hotels were booked for these teens to enjoy four sunny days in Florida, including an airboat trip through the Everglades. For some of these young members, this was their first time venturing outside of Louisville, being on an airplane, and seeing the ocean.

Members in the Senior Program continue to enjoy their time together each weekday. While Bingo is still the most popular activity, they have also started participating in music therapy once a week. The music therapy has been a big hit and something they look forward to each week. Another highlight for our seniors this spring was recognizing Mr. Lloyd as a charter member of Neighborhood House with a special brick plaque.

Of course, no spring update in Louisville would be complete without showing off our Derby finest. Neighborhood House celebrated Derby all week long, including a balloon race and parade for our youngest members. And the Senior Program brought back the annual Oaks party–which was on hiatus during COVID-19–to much fanfare.

As spring moves into summer, Neighborhood House is preparing for summer programs and preschool graduation, and the food bank continues to be stocked for any member who needs supplies. There is always an opportunity to connect with one another here at Neighborhood House!
