Dreamers Academy
Neighborhood House has welcomed over 100 youth into our Dreamers Academy for the summer! Youth are in the building five days a week learning life skills, taking on new hobbies and recreational activities, and going on field trips at least once a week. So far, Dreamers have taken college tours, visited Malibu Jackets and Skateland, and so much more. While they’re at Neighborhood House, they’re taking classes in cooking, creative design, martial arts, photography, and more. Their time with us will end with an end-of-summer celebration and a trip to Holiday World.
Pathways Program
Neighborhood House’s newest program, Pathways, has officially kicked off. Geared toward teens and young adults ages 16-24, Pathways will give members opportunities to grow in their personal and professional lives, learn life and leadership skills, and learn more about the world around them. Pathways currently has monthly events that are free to the public! To learn more about upcoming opportunities, email Janelle at [email protected]
Tunes and Tales with the Louisville Orchestra
Members of the Child Development Center are getting a front row seat to performances by local talented musicians from the Louisville Orchestra! Kids are read books like The Hungry Hungry Caterpillar and Bear Snores On alongside accompanying tunes from members of the Louisville Orchestra.
Neighborhood House will be collaborating with the orchestra throughout 2024 and into 2025 with a series of free concerts available to the public held at Neighborhood House. Stay tuned for more information on dates, times, and more!
Emergency Food Bank
Neighborhood House is seeing exponential growth in the Emergency Food Bank! Earlier this year, we implemented a shopping model where guests are able to select the items they want and leave the ones they don’t. Compared to 2023 when we served approximately 350 guests each month, we’ve seen over 600 families here since May. Serving this many families is possible thanks to our committed volunteers!
